In the same year that his dental practice is celebrating its 25th year of service in Little Rock, Dr. Michael Zweifler has launched a new product that he hopes will make big changes to the industry.
The new product, which Zweifler has dubbed AccuPal, preconditions palatal tissue to make palatal injections more comfortable for patients. "Forty percent of Americans don't go to the dentist because they are afraid of getting palatal injections. I hope this product can change that," Zweifler said.
Zweifler began researching the creation of such a product a little over two years ago. He teamed with a local jeweler to form prototypes of the AccuPal and formed a partnership with Advance Design in Hot Springs, the company that now manufactures the product.
The AccuPal uses vibration and strategic placement to relieve the pain usually associated with injections. "I tried this thing on myself because I had to make sure it worked," said Zweifler, adding, "Believe me, it does."
Zweifler has formed a strategic marketing campaign, which includes visiting nationwide trade shows and a company Web site. "We've got reps that go out all over the region and show dentists how it works. But now, our online business has really begun to pick up," he said.
Of all dentists who have viewed the AccuPal demonstration at trade shows, Zweifler said, 98 percent have purchased the product. "We've been really overwhelmed at how well the dental community has been picking up on this," he said.
The next step for the company, in which Zweifler has invested more than $250,000 of personal money, is to begin reaching out to an even greater demographic. "This product not only works in dentistry, but it is effective for every type of shot," Zweifler said. "We want to make it a product that is useful in all types of health services."
