The more than 70,000 businesses in Arkansas that make state income tax withholding payments can now pay them through Arkansas.gov, the state's official Web site.
The service launched April 30, and in the first week there were more than $3.8 million in tax withholdings filed and paid online.
The site's Business Tax Payment Service allows businesses to make withholding tax payments by establishing an online account and filing the payment. All transactions are completed over the Arkansas.gov's system.
The online service also allows a company to transmit payments and filings on behalf of multiple businesses, and allows "warehousing" of the payment for a later date.
In 2007, Arkansas collected more than $440 million through the online Business Tax Payment service for state sales tax, streamlined sales tax, unemployment insurance tax, and business entity franchise tax.
