Station X LLC CEO Brant Collins said the Little Rock Internet video startup has received $20,000 in seed capital from the Arkansas Science and Technology Authority.
Collins, also the founder of the company, said the funding will allow him to prove his concept for an Internet TV station that will produce original content for distribution on the Web.
"Station X has seen the trend of video content moving from the traditional TV to the Web and wants to be on the cutting edge of this trend," Collins said.
The company's first show and blog, Beer Utopia, launched March 17. Collins said the www.beerutopia.com site has had more than 23,000 views from 84 countries.
Station X was the first client of Innovate Arkansas, an Arkansas Economic Development Commission program designed to build the state's technology-based economy. Collins said Innovate Arkansas was instrumental in obtaining the funding from ASTA.
Winrock International retained Arkansas Business Publishing Group and its FLEX360 Web development firm to build, provide content for and market the Innovate Arkansas Web site.
