Unemployment is down or static in each of Arkansas' six metropolitan statistical areas in June, according to data released Wednesday.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said unemployment for June in Arkansas as a whole was at 7.3 percent, the same numbers posted in May but down from 8.5 over the same period one year ago, while the jobless rate in all six metros fell over the past year.

For June, unemployment was down or stayed the same in the state's metros. The Little Rock metro, which includes North Little Rock and Conway, had a 6.6 percent jobless rate for June, down from 6.7 in May and 7.5 in June 2011.

The Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers metro saw its jobless rate fall to 5.6 from 6.7 a year ago and 5.7 in May. Fort Smith's 7.7 June rate is the same as May but down from 8.8 percent a year ago; Hot Springs, at 7.6 percent, was down from 7.8 in May and 8.6 a year ago; Jonesboro's 7.0 percent rate stayed the same as May but fell from 8.2 percent last year; and Pine Bluff's 9.2 percent rate was the same as a month ago but down from 10.9 percent in June 2011.
