INOV8 Notes: Balleza to Speak at Clinton School, VCs Speak Out

ARK Challenge director Jeannette Balleza will speak at the Clinton School of Public Service on Saturday from 4-5 p.m.

Balleza, recently named with IA advisor Jeff Amerine and IA client John James to the Arkansas Times list of 50 Influential Arkansans, will speak as part of the Times’ Festival of Ideas featuring list honorees.

Balleza’s lecture is entitled “How to Start a Tech Company in Three Months.” It’s free, but you need to reserve seats by emailing publicprograms@clintonschool.uasys.edu or calling 501-683-5239.

VCs Speak Out

Brad Henry of the Arkansas Economic Development Authority shared some links earlier this month, and we’re finally getting around to sharing.

In TechCrunch, Serguei Beloussov of Runa Capital tells us why the source of VC is as important as the money itself. In Forbes, Julia Pimsleur blogs about “Life in the 4%, or 10 things I wish I knew when I started raising venture capital.” Good reads. Thanks, Brad.

ASBTDC Consultant Receives National Honor

Nancy Knighten, business consultant at UALR’s Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center, was honored recently by the Association of Small Business Development Centers, a national organization.

According to the awesome folks over at UALR, Knighten received the State Star designation for “being an exemplary performer, contributing significantly to the Arkansas SBTDC program and showing a strong commitment to small businesses.”

A State Star is chosen from each state, regional or territorial SBDC program, we’re told.  Good work, Nancy, and all the folks at UALR..
