Jake Nickell of Threadless.com
Jake Nickell, founder of Threadless.com, will speak at the 2013 Made By Few tech conference scheduled for May 4 at the Clinton Presidential Center.
Nickell is the first of five prominent speakers who will highlight the event.
Made by Few (MxF) debuted last year in Little Rock with national speakers including Arkansas’ own Kristian Andersen to rave reviews. Organizers expect the 2013 event to “put Arkansas on the map for entrepreneurship and startup development,” according to a press release.
“Having Jake apart of Made By Few is sure to inspire the blossoming entrepreneurs in Arkansas,” said Made By Few co-coordinator Abbi Siler. “He embodies the energy and creativity of the conference.”
Based in Chicago, Threadless has become an iconic clothing brand since its founding in 2000. It represents an online marketplace for artists and designers to submit their work for sale based on crowd-sourced ratings. Just like IA client Red Clay started in the home decor industry.
A big get for MxF, which is, in its organizers’ own words…
…a conference featuring talks from leading entrepreneurs, designers, developers and creatives. It’s part showcase, part education and part inspiration. Made by Few is the anti-huge conference – the goal is to make the speakers accessible to attendees, to inspire and most importantly, to have fun.
This “anti-conference” is the product of Arlton Lowry, who once described the event as his “love song” to his friends and the entrepreneurial community.
More on Nickell here. Other big speakers will be announced in January — one a week throughout the month. Tickets are limited and the event is expected to sell out — last year, tickets were gone in a month. But for now, a limited number of early bird tickets are available for $85.
MxF will run all day on May 4 — 8 to 5 — and will include a “huge after party.” A new “pre-event,” the Gabe Couch-led Designed By Few, will be introduced this year.
