UA’s Picasolar Wins Ivey in Ontario, Onto Moot Corp

Another University of Arkansas business-plan team, another impressive international win.

UA’s Picasolar won the IBK Capital-Ivey Business Plan Competition at the University of Western Ontario last weekend, Arkansas Business reports. In addition to the $20,000 first prize, Picasolar gets a spot at Moot Corp — whoops — the “Global Venture Labs Investment Competition” at UT in Austin. You know, the Super Bowl of business-plan competitions.

Seth Shumate came up with Picasolar’s process of increasing solar cell efficiency. He used to work with IA client Silicon Solar Solutions.

UA entrepreneur/startup/business-plan mentor Carol Reeves calls Picasolar an impressive venture.

“Their tech is one of the best I’ve ever seen,” she told us. “If it scales, this will be an Arkansas success story we will be talking about for decades.”

Here’s the full story from the UA Newswire.

Well done, y’all. Looks like the UA’s streak of making noise on the international business-plan stage is alive and well.
