Gone in 60 Returns to El Dorado in April

Posted in entrepreneurs, events by mcarter on February 5th, 2013

The wait is over. Like Godzilla, The Land Before Time and Fast and Furious, Gone in 60 Seconds is back.

The elevator pitch competition modeled after Shark Tank is the brainchild of IA advisor Jeff Amerine. It gives local entrepreneurs a minute to pitch their idea before a room full of contemporaries, local residents and potential investors, and it is returning to El Dorado in April.

Officially, this will be G60 #9 and it will take place Friday, April 26th at 6:30 p.m. from the El Dorado Conference Center as part of the Southwest Arkansas Entrepreneurship Conference (more on that later). Amerine is set to emcee this one, and Jason Lucash of OrigAudio, Entrepreneur Magazine’s “Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year,” will speak. Registration opens at 5:30 and pitches commence at 7:30.

First place will receive $1,000, second will get $500 and third $250.

As usual, Sumotext will provide the text voting, and G60 officials expect another big show. G60′s previous stop in El Dorado played the historic Rialto downtown. G60 debuted with two shows in Fayetteville in 2011 and since has played Rogers (twice), Fort Smith, Little Rock and Conway.

Future stops are pencilled in for Jonesboro and Texarkana.

As always, pop over around the corner to register. Watch portions of past G60 competitions here, and here’s an Arkansas Business video from the last stop in Conway (won by Refurrl).
