High-purity amorphous silica (StratoSil) and renewable energy in the form of electrical power are the co-products of International Silica Technologies, LLC. IST recovers amorphous silica contained in rice hulls and straw while burning the carbon compound portion of the hulls and straw as fuel to make the electrical power.
IST's StratoSil brand of amorphous silica will be very competitive in the $2 billion annual, worldwide amorphous silica market. The electricity generated by the IST co-generation power plants can be delivered to the grid and sold to utility companies and/or municipal power companies. As fuel costs increase, the cost of making synthetic amorphous silica will rise. Due to its renewable energy component, IST revenues will rise as fossil fuel prices increase.
