Tears for Life
One in eight women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime. The annual cost of treatment in the U.S. is $30 to $40 billion, but research has shown that survival rates are much higher and treatment costs are much lower when breast cancer is diagnosed and treated at an early stage. However, the painful truth is that only about half of women ages 40 and older are screened for breast cancer at the recommended intervals.
Tears for Life is a privately held medical diagnostic equipment company headquartered in Northwest Arkansas. Tears for Life is using a patent pending technology to develop a tear test kit that will screen women for breast cancer using proteins found in tears. The tear test kit is a non-invasive, convenient, and objective screening tool that allows for early detection and treatment of breast cancer, saving lives and significantly reducing health care costs. Tears for Life has an exclusive license from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences granting use of this proprietary technology.
Tears for Life will deliver value to patients, customers, and stakeholders by working in partnership with HCPs, managed care organizations, and governments. Our vision is that the tear test kit will make breast cancer screening easier and more accessible for women, resulting in higher screening rates, earlier diagnosis and treatment, increased survival rates, and reduced treatment costs for patients and insurers.
